So..... I photographed a wedding in the Lake District, and boy oh boy wasn't it a 'Lake District Wedding' alright. It couldn't have been more secluded. Held at the Haweswater hotel in the North Lakes it really was in the middle of nowhere.... and absolutely perfect. the scenery was incredible. My husband and I even went for a stroll around Haweswater Reservoir in the morning to capture some cracking shots of the landscape. Wild red squirrels running around happily, I was in my element.
I met Kev and Fiona virtually.... on a Facebook page for people who love the Lake District. Kev had posted about any photographer recommendations and I jumped on this straight away, sending him a message to say "I'LL DO IT!!!" I couldn't resist. A Skype call and a meeting in Nottingham later we were good to go. I spent the morning with both Kev and Fi in their beautiful Art deco hotel, watching family arrive, parents assemble a handmade wedding cake, the local flower lady deliver the flowers that had been hand foraged from the local area. It really was beautiful.
Kev and Fiona decided to get ready together on the morning on their wedding and I felt so privileged to witness this. The way Kev looked at Fi as she got ready, how he helped her into her dress. It really was something so very special.
The ceremony was beautiful, very heart warming and personal, followed by a fantastic reception, right in time for when the clouds and rain cleared and the sun warmed us all up. It left the most incredible blue sky. Coupled with the mountains in the background it really did become a Cumbrian wedding.
I took Kev and Fi off for half an hour to do their couple shots. I didn't have to prompt them at all, they are so in love they just did it all for me. Those beautiful sun kissed skies after the storm made it so romantic.
Kev approached me at the end of the evening to ask me whether he reckoned I could "capture them stars" eek! I thought, now theres a bit of pressure. It was PITCH black, it was the middle of nowhere after all but my god the sky was so clear. So off we went, they were so patient, waiting in the freezing cold for me to get it spot on.
A wedding is not complete without some shocking dance moves..... so here they are :)
Acorns!!! On a button hole...... Amazing! The lady from Vine and Roses was incredibly talented.
